Are you a PlayStation lover? You will love hearing this
news. Unannounced PlayStation 5 Pro specifications have leaked online,
revealing the power of the console that Sony will reportedly release in the
fourth quarter of this year.
The spec list first appeared via Moore's Law Is Dead YouTube
channel, before Insider Gaming claimed it was real, and a subsequent Insider
Gaming article added further details.
The leaked specifications allegedly came from the Sony
Interactive Entertainment Developer Network.
The main upgrade here is to the CPU, which is said to be
identical to the PS5's standard CPU but with a 'High CPU Frequency Mode', which
amounts to a 10% increase to 3.85GHz.
As for the GPU, it is now capable of faster rendering and
higher quality ray tracing powered by 33.5 teraflops.
The standard PS5 offers 10.28 teraflops. However, a direct
comparison of the PS5 and PS5 Pro would yield around 10.28 vs 16 to 17
teraflops.
The PS5 Pro is also said to have an upscaling/antialiasing
solution called PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution Upscaling), a
custom machine learning architecture, and an AI accelerator.
Besides, the PS5 Pro has a removable disk drive and 1TB of
storage space.
Before the leak, analysts hinted that Sony would likely
release the PS5 Pro later this year.
The product is reportedly designed to increase interest in
the PS5 ahead of the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 next year.
So far, Sony has had a good run in releasing Pro versions of
its consoles.
We know the success of the PS4 Pro which was launched in
November 2016 or three years after the PS4 came out.
The launch of the PS5 Pro in November will occur four years
after the PS5 was launched in November 2020.
Sony has revised its PS5 sales forecast for the current
financial year, down from a high target of 25 million consoles sold to 21
million.
This comes despite PS5 sales increasing year-over-year for
the 2023 holiday quarter, from 7.1 million sold to 8.2 million.
